About Us

The Eastern & Oriental, popularly known as the ‘E&O’, is an all-suite luxury hotel and the only one with a seafront in the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Heritage Wing is the original site and historical heart of the hotel, characterised by its Moorish minarets and a soaring echo-dome lobby that provide the backdrop for khaki-clad doormen and pith-helmeted bellmen to welcome guests to its 100 elegant suites. The Victory Annexe is an extended wing that opened in 2013, marking a significant milestone in the E&O’s history.

Heritage Wing Room Types

George Town Suites (2 pax

George Town Suites are furnished with a king-size bed or twin beds overlooking the city. Each suite features three spacious areas – a lounge, a bedroom and a luxurious bathroom, with double-glazed glass windows that open to the streets of George Town. Natural wood floors, floor to ceiling plantation shutters and antique furnishings evoke the nostalgia of the colonial era in Penang. The spacious and luxurious bathroom open to a lavish bathtub, flanked by a vanity sink on each side, and a separate shower. All suites are equipped with a UHD flat screen television with satellite channels, Nespresso coffee machine, a tea station and a mini bar.

Deluxe Suites (2 Pax)

Deluxe Suites are furnished with a king-size bed or twin beds overlooking the E&O’s magnificent seafront. Each suite features a comfortable seating area with expansive windows and doors that let in bountiful light and open to the view of the Andaman Sea. Natural wood floors, floor to ceiling plantation shutters and antique furnishings evoke the nostalgia of the colonial era in Penang.

Premier Suites (2 Pax)

Available as a choice between balcony or garden terrace, all Premier Suites are sea-facing and furnished with a king-size bed or twin beds.

Straits Suites (2 Pax)

Over-sized suite with two bay windows, main lounge area with guest restroom, writing desk area and dining table overlooking the Straits of Malacca. Its opulent bathroom includes a claw and ball long bath with separate shower stall equipped with “His” and “Her” hand basins. Extremely spacious and opulent, Strait Suites feature two bay windows, a living lounge with guest restroom, a writing area and a dining table. All suites open to picturesque sea view and are furnished with a king-size bed or twin beds.

Writers Suites (2 Pax)

Extremely spacious and opulent, Writers Suites feature a living lounge with guest restroom, a bedroom and bathroom, and a separate dining lounge with bar. All suites open to picturesque sea view and are furnished with a king-size bed or twin beds.

Pinang Suite (2 Pax)

The Pinang Suite is an exclusive one-bedroom suite located on the 2nd floor with a generously sized lounge, a guest restroom, and a dining area complete with bar and a kitchenette. The suite’s private balconies open to picturesque sea view and the bedroom is furnished with a king-size four poster bed.

Victory Annexe Room Type

Studio Suites (2 Pax)

Studio Suites are furnished with a king-size bed or twin beds and come with a balcony that overlooks the seafront and the city.

Corner Suites (2 Pax)

Extremely spacious and elegant, each Corner Suite features a separate living area with a guest washroom, a bedroom, an expansive balcony and a dining area with sea view.

Terms and Conditions

• Check-in time is after 15:00hrs on the day of arrival. Early access to the Suite(s) prior to 15:00hrs will be subject to Suite availability at the time of check-in. For guaranteed access to the Suite(s) prior to 14:00hrs, the Suite(s) must be reserved from the previous night at the full day rate, unless prior arrangement(s) has been made in writing with the Hotel.
• Check-out time is 12:00hrs on the day of departure. Late check-out until 18:00hrs is chargeable at day use rates while check-out after 18:00hrs is chargeable at the full day charge. Late check outs are subject to Suite availability unless prior arrangement(s) has been made in writing with the Hotel.
• A surcharge of RM200.00Nett per Suite per night will be levied during the following dates:
• December 20, 2022 – January 4, 2023
• January 19 – 29, 2023
• All rates are quoted in Ringgit Malaysia (RM), subject to Suite availability. Payments are to be made in Ringgit Malaysia (RM) only.
• All accommodation rate is quote per room night.
• No cancellation or refund can be made once confirmed.

Guest Policy

Heritage Wing Suites & Corner Suites

• For the third adult or child of 13 years of age and above sharing a Suite, an additional charge of RM350.00nett per person per night will be levied. Only (1) extra bed can be accommodated per Suite. Rate for the extra bed is inclusive of breakfast and access to The Cornwallis.
• There is no charge for children of 12 years of age and below sharing a Suite with parents, up to a maximum occupancy of 2 adults and 2 children/infants per Suite. Extra bed and breakfast are not included.

Studio Suites

• For the third adult or child of 13 years of age and above sharing a Suite, an additional charge of RM150.00nett per person per night will be levied. Only (1) extra bed can be accommodated per Suite. Rate for the extra bed is inclusive of breakfast.
• There is no charge for children of 12 years of age and below sharing a Suite with parents, up to a maximum occupancy of 2 adults and 2 children/infants per Suite. Extra bed and breakfast are not included.
